What' s better than Sharpie art?
Upcycling! Just kidding. Sharpie art is the best. But upcycling things is cool too. Especially when you use them as a canvas. Drawing on styrofoam cups might never be considered "pro" stuff, but it's fun and maybe it keeps one cup out of the landfills a bit longer. For this project, I brought home the cup I was using at a family get-together. I'm always looking for things to use in my office for holding pens, pencils and more pens. Why not a tall foam cup? Here are some photos of my Sharpie art in progress, in case you need an excuse to doodle on your own cups:

You know those times when there is nothing you can do about your predicament, yet someone always argues that you just aren't trying hard enough? That's what's going on here. Even though apple falling is just an inevitable part of being an apple, Mr. Crabby Apples is laying on some guilt. Oh well, he will soon get his turn to be applesauce. You can't hang in that tree forever... There is a moral here. Who loves small victories in life? Okay, they aren't as wonderful as epic victories, but they still take the ho-hum out of the day, right? I especially love to celebrate small art victories. Because art can be a frustrating thing. Never more so than when it is time to market it and sell it. Last month I had the exquisite pleasure of making my first Etsy sale. After a year I had literally given up and had left myself a note to close my account (because who wants to pay for something that isn't reaping any rewards at all?) My first sale wasn't just "good". It was pretty cool too... It's Star Wars Day. (No really, it's important!) And here is a super quick doodle to celebrate. Kind of a mish-mash of the three (best) movies in the set. I thought I might try something a little different this week. Like maybe a little Harry Potter fan art! There were two good reasons for this. 1. It was time to make a new coloring page design. 2. I really needed some Hermione Granger art on my wall somewhere. Because she is pretty awesome. I colored my version in with my beloved Sharpie markers (and some cool new Bics that I just got). And here are some "making-of" photos: |
