Well, Inktober is over. How did I do? Not as well as last year. I missed three days (I think). But, I spent more time on most drawings than I did last year too, so I suppose that evens out. This haunted house in my sketchbook wraps up the month for me. I wanted to try something different, so I used solvent to create a wash with my inks. Since the prompt was "Mask", I left the house very sketchy and stark to contrast with the bright leaves. The idea was that the cheerful trees were masking something foreboding and stark. All-in-all, it was another enjoyable year, and I am pleased to say I am not totally burnt out on art. Haha. In fact, I have tons of new ideas inspired by all the art and artists I've encountered throughout the month. I will be putting all the images together on one page soon, but here is a quick look: My favorite from Inktober:
Even though I prefer black and white art most of all, this is my favorite creation for the month. It makes me happy whenever I see it. It was also my husband's favorite, which is pretty cool since he usually prefers "manly macabre stuff". :)
The most popular:
I'm only counting Instagram popularity here, since that is where I focused this year. Out of all the drawings, I was surprised that this one came in top, since it isn't even a finished idea. Just goes to show I guess that more isn't always better. (Or maybe I just hit the right time of day for lightbulb art. I dunno, I'm still learning IG!)
The least popular:
Again, this is only the Insta-popularity. Also, I posted this one on Halloween morning and pretty much everyone was busy, so not exactly a fair shot. The cat from day 9 has the least likes for an older post and none new since the hour it was posted. So really, it was the least popular if you take timing into account.
What's next? A short break doing some fun stuff like the little miniature art cards. Then I start editing and uploading to my online art stores. Whee! Oh, and keep an eye out. I will be rounding up some artists to showcase this month!
